Richard Sulík and Eduard Heger spoke about the night meeting | TVNOVINY.sk – TVNOVINY.sk

Updated 7:55 p.m. 7/17/2022, 7:17 a.m. Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽaNO) and SaS leader Richard Sulík met on Saturday evening shortly after 8 p.m. in the government hotel Bôrik. They were dealing with a government crisis that arose after the Liberals terminated the coalition agreement. The meeting lasted four and a half hours. When leaving Bôrik, they did not answer the questions. Sulík did not comment on the night meeting until Sunday at noon: “I had an extensive and constructive conversation with Prime Minister Eduard Heger. We have discussed many things, but our original position, agreed by the Republic Council of SaS, is still valid, that after we left the coalition on July 6, we are ready to sign a new coalition agreement, which will indicate that Igor Matovič will not be a member of the future government. If this does not happen, they leave on 31.8. ministers for the SaS government,” said SaS chairman Richard Sulík. Anna Zemanová, chairwoman of the SaS parliamentary club, expressed herself in a similar vein in the V politike program on TA3. Heger and Sulík did not reach a breakthrough in this meeting. Liberals continue to insist on the departure of Igor Matovič from the government. “The position of the SaS that we are ready to sign a new coalition agreement is still valid,” said Zemanová. Eduard Heger: Sulík should take a step back The second participant of the meeting, Prime Minister Eduard Heger, also commented on the Saturday evening meeting early Sunday evening. “The Prime Minister still considers maintaining the coalition of four to be the only solution, and thinks that Richard Sulík should take a step back. He will discuss with his partners behind closed doors during the summer, and the public will only be informed of the final result,” the press office of the Prime Minister informed. In the session, the chairman of the OĽaNO parliamentary club Michal Šipoš repeated the well-known position. They stand behind their leader in the movement and will not back down. Šipoš assumes that OĽaNO will probably have a presidency during the week, at which its members will talk about further progress in the coalition. According to him, the goal is to dominate the current coalition. He does not agree with the opinion presented by MP György Gyimesi (OĽaNO) about the minority government. However, he does not consider the solution and demands of SaS to be as simple as the liberals imagine. He recalled that even before the meeting of the SaS Republic Council, OĽANO made it clear that the departure of Matovič was not acceptable to them. SaS announces resignations Even the Prime Minister has repeatedly declared that the Minister of Finance will not be dismissed. He also adds that Matovič has his trust and believes in his ability to lead the finance department. According to Heger, however, they will come to an agreement with Sulík and the situation will not lead to early elections. The dispute in the coalition intensified again after the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic overrode President Zuzana Čaputová’s veto during the so-called anti-inflation package from the workshop of the Minister of Finance. The parties accused each other of voting with the fascists. After this vote, SaS terminated the coalition agreement and demands the drafting of a new one. The party has announced the resignation of its ministers if their demands are not met. Igor Matovič says that this is how the liberals will topple the government in September. However, according to SaS, their resignation will not mean the fall of the government, early elections or the end of the coalition. Sulík announced on Tuesday (July 12) that SaS is no longer part of the coalition. The Prime Minister then appealed to the Liberals to take a step back. Both parties declare their interest in succeeding the current government, the prime minister appeals for the continuation of the coalition of four. They don’t want early elections.
