Another heat wave is coming! The temperature will go above +35 °C. In Europe there is a risk of more than +40 °C – iMeteo.sk

The warmest days of the year await Europe in many places. Temperatures will reach above +40 °C and extremely warm weather will not escape our territory either. The hot weather will start on Monday. Slovakia has had a relatively cold weekend. Although it doesn’t look like that at first glance, it really was colder than usual for the current time of year in our territory during the past few hours. Not only did the temperatures not rise above +30 °C during the day, the night and morning temperatures also dropped quite low. Morning temperatures ranged from +11 to +4 °C. Even in some valleys of Slovakia, morning temperatures reached +3 °C, and we are not talking about the fact that it is freezing at -4 °C on the Lomnické štít. However, the colder weather will recede and we can only dream of such temperatures in the coming days. Another wave of heat awaits us from Monday, and literally hellish heat awaits us from the middle of the week. Do not expect precipitation. The weather in Europe is under the influence of a large high pressure area. Its center is currently located over the Benelux and in the next few hours it will move through Germany and the Czech Republic directly over Slovakia. Its center will be over our territory until Wednesday. This high pressure will bring steady, mostly clear to partly clear weather. Do not expect any precipitation. However, what should be expected are high temperatures. On the backside of this pressure high, very warm air from the south will flow into the entire western half of Europe. Britain faces the highest temperatures in history A heat wave has hit France, Spain, and Portugal in recent days. Temperatures here climbed above +40 °C, while in Portugal the temperature reached an incredible +47 °C. However, the 40s are not very unusual on the Iberian Peninsula. They occur here practically every summer. However, it is unusual only as long as the mass of warm air does not reach further north and temperatures of +40 °C do not threaten Benelux, Germany or even England, and that is exactly what is expected now. Extremely warm air will flow over Scotland and bring serious heat to the British Isles from tomorrow. In England, meteorologists even issued the highest red warning for high temperatures for the first time in history. The temperature here rises to +38 to +39 °C. And such temperatures are already very unusual. The warmest in history was in England on July 25, 2019, when the temperature reached +38.7 °C. It is almost certain that the upcoming heat wave will exceed this temperature and that may not be the end. There is up to a 50% chance that the temperature in England will reach an incredible +40°C. temperature warnings in England, source: Met Office Heat is expected in Slovakia as well. However, a mass of warm air will also reach our area. Central Europe must prepare for the heat from Monday, and the string of hot weather will last for several days, at least until the end of next week. Temperatures approaching +40 °C are expected not only in England, but also in France, the Benelux region and Germany. In our area, temperatures will be around +38 °C at most. Slovakia has been expecting the tropics since Monday. While on Monday temperatures can only reach +30 °C in the warmest locations, on Tuesday it will be practically all over western and southern Slovakia. Tentatively, it should be the warmest in our territory on Wednesday, when tropical temperatures are already expected in many places in Slovakia, and in the hottest locations, temperatures will reach up to +37 °C. It will cool down in the next few days, but not significantly. The maximum temperatures will still attack the +35 °C level. You can see the outlook and development for the next few days HERE.
