Slovak hockey forward Adam Sýkora signed a three-year rookie contract on Friday with the New York Rangers club from the overseas NHL, which drafted him in the second round from the 63rd position at the beginning of July. The 17-year-old native of Piešťany received his first professional contract as the first choice of the “Riders” in this year’s rookie draft shortly after he scored in a model match on the fifth day of the development camp. “I tried to give my best in every shift. Today is for special to me. Right after the match they told me that we were going to sign a contract. I was really happy and excited, I really appreciate it. I hope to score a goal in a competitive match at Madison Square Garden one day. I have a lot of motivation to fight against other guys, I’m the youngest player here. I try to play simple and a little harder. The whole week has been amazing for me, I’ve met a lot of great people and learned new things.
