Heatwave: Météo France places 5 departments in orange vigilance – RTL.fr

This Saturday August 14 marked the arrival of extreme heat in France. The south-east was the first area to suffer these scorching temperatures according to Météo France, which placed five departments in orange heat wave vigilance : the Alpes de Haute-Provence, the Alpes-Maritimes, the Ardèche, the Drôme and the Var.

During the day, the mercury varied between 32 to 38 ° C in the east of Midi-Pyrénées, the Rhône valley and the Mediterranean rim. It is also up to 40 or 41 ° C in the Provençal interior. For the five departments in orange vigilance, next night will still be particularly hot: 19 to 23 ° C, or even up to 25 ° C on the Côte d’Azur.

For the day of Sunday, Météo France forecasts that the maximum temperatures will show a slight decrease, even if the strong heat will persist in these departments in orange vigilance. We will have to wait until Monday to see a more marked drop in temperatures.

If you face this heat peak, remember to drink a lot, preferably water. Alcoholic drinks should be avoided, as they will dehydrate you.
