US, over 500 women sue Uber: “Attacked by drivers”

Over 500 women have sued Uber claiming they were attacked by drivers from the car reservation service. In the class action, which was filed with the San Francisco court, the “ride-hailing” giant is accused of failing to address the problem, despite being aware of its scope since 2014. In recent years, therefore, cases have increased. of assaults, from harassment to kidnapping and rape, of female passengers, denounced Slater Slater Schulman, the law firm that represents the 550 women participating in the class action. Lawyers have said they are investigating at least 150 other possible other cases of assaults. Uber has not released any statements in response to the allegations, but has confirmed that the class action has already begun last February. The company recently released the results of its internal investigation into the issue, which show there were 3,824 reports of assault by its drivers in 2019 and 2020 alone.
