A huge fire broke out in a well-known Croatian destination. The fire even spread to the center of the city. Houses, cars are on fire, and the firefighters have no control over the situation at all. The evacuation of residents has begun. Croats talk about the worst situation in the past 10 years. A huge fire engulfed the Adriatic coast. The fire started in the early afternoon. Fires are not uncommon in Croatia during the summer, especially during the dry season. However, today’s fire started to spread uncontrollably and the firemen have no control over the fire at all. Hundreds of firefighters are fighting the fire on the coast of Croatia, trying to protect houses, and the evacuation of residents has begun. The Croatian prime minister is heading to the place. Both Vodice and Zaton at risk The fire broke out around 11:00 a.m., not far from the well-known holiday destination of Vodice. During the day, the extensive fire spread towards Zaton, where the situation is currently the most dramatic, as the fire threatens houses. Locals are calling for help. Firefighters do not have the fire under control yet, two planes are also helping from the air. However, the fire does not stop and spreads on several fronts, currently the most dramatic situation is in Zaton. According to locals, the fire has engulfed several houses, it is impossible to breathe because of the smoke, and fire engines are still arriving. At one point, the fire practically spread to the center of Zaton, it also engulfed the church tower, and the firefighters barely saved the fire station. The fire is not under control. Evacuation has begun The fire is extremely strong. Ash and smoke completely covered the sky above Vodice and Šibenik. The situation in the Zaton area is very complex. The fire damaged many houses here. It literally burns between houses. The situation is so serious that the evacuation of residents by boat towards the city of Bilice has begun, some other residents have gone towards the Šibenik Bridge. More reinforcements went to the place and the Croatian prime minister is also on his way. The darkened sky above Split testifies to the extent of the fire in Vodice, Zaton and Raslina. The smell of smoke can be felt throughout the city, and the people of Split also report that ash is falling in the city. The victims are not yet known.
