Launching a new internal combustion engine at a time when it is certain that internal combustion engines have it figured out sounds like suicide. However, Mazda tried it and created the most economical and environmentally friendly six-cylinder diesel ever. As CarSales informs, it is also thanks to the mild-hybrid technology. The new 3.3-liter straight-six diesel engine will be part of the Mazda CX-60 model. The engine is supplemented with mild-hybrid technology, which helps the car during starts, sailing and the need for additional power. The primary goal of the electric part of the six-cylinder diesel engine is to reduce emissions. The average consumption is only 4.9 l/100 km, which is a really low value considering the parameters of the engine and the size of the car. The range of engines will be expanded. over time, it will certainly be acquired by other higher-end models such as the CX-70, CX-80 and CX-90.Mazda In Slovakia, only the plug-in hybrid engine with a volume of 2.5 liters is available in the configurator, but a diesel mild-hybrid will be offered here too soon. What makes the new engine so special? The new inline six-cylinder diesel is called e-Skyactiv D and is the first to bring DCPCI (Distribution-Controlled Partially Premixed Compression Ignition) technology. This technology optimizes the stroke volume of the cylinders, thanks to which it achieves a thermal efficiency of up to 40%. It is thus truly one of the cleanest, if not the cleanest, diesel engine in the world. The Mazda CX-60 with a new 3.3-liter engine will be available with rear-wheel drive and an output of 147 kW (197 hp), or with four-wheel drive and an output of 187 kW (250 hp). Mazda Four-wheel drive will offer a torque of 550 Nm , acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and all this with a fantastic consumption of 5.3 l/100 km. The engine emits only 137 grams of CO2 per kilometer of driving, respectively 127 g of CO2/km in the configuration with rear axle drive. The new electric platform is only a few years away. Mazda has decided to give its customers a choice and therefore brings such, by today’s standards, crazy engines . The current platform makes it possible to produce models with internal combustion, hybrid or electric drives. As early as 2025, however, we will see a completely new architecture, which will be designed exclusively for the production of electric cars. The platform, called Skyactiv EV Scalable Architecture, will allow the automaker to build electric cars of all sizes on one and the same foundation. Thanks for reading Fontech.
