Insults between supporters appeared in videos on social networks, and the authorities have already taken further steps on the subject. “We received information that some fans were the target of unacceptable comments from other supporters. We have already communicated about this with the race promoter and the security forces,” DPA quoted from the official statement of F1. The topic was also the fans’ reactions to the race itself. Tens of thousands of Dutch people applauded Lewis Hamilton’s qualifying crash on Friday. At last week’s race at Silverstone, fans of the Mercedes driver booed reigning champion Max Verastappen when he gave an interview. Hamilton condemned their behavior, and now the Dutchman did the same: “It’s a shame, because even if sometimes we have extremely tough and exciting fights, you always have to respect your opponent.”
