The biggest problem in the government is Igor Matovič,” he says, saying that he is destroying the country with his ideas. 16.16 SaS deputy Alojz Baránik sees György Gyimesi’s demarcation against SaS as a problem, in addition to Igor Matovič’s attacks. “If they want to be coalition partners, let them behave accordingly,” said Baránik. “It will be their decision. They have to think about whether they want to vote with the fascists or with SaS, which always abides by agreements,” added Baránik. 14.25 Who are the members of the SaS Republic Council? The SaS Republican Council has 13 members. It includes Richard Sulík, Miroslav Žiak, Marián Viskupič, Michal Uherčík, Martin Klus, Ľudovít Paulis, Jozef Kanuščák, Juraj Jevin, Karol Galek, Branislav Gröhling, Roman Foltin, Martin Barto and Jana Bittó Cigániková. Deputy Alojz Baránik said that he does not know if the government will fall today. He added that people like György Gyimesi should not define themselves against SaS if they want to be coalition partners. 13.14 “Slovakia is experiencing the most difficult times in its history. Now is not the time to topple the government,” declared Prime Minister Eduard Heger. “I believe that colleagues from SaS will decide to stay with us,” he told reporters after the government meeting. I personally would not be in a government that would rely on the Kotlebovs or similar fascists,” he claims. 12.35 Minister of Defense Jaroslav Naď says that he is sad about the crisis in the coalition. After the government meeting, he stated that it would be irresponsible to topple the government in the current security situation. “From a foreign policy and defense perspective, I’m excited about how the government is working. What do we want? Do we want politicians who will bow down to Putin again?” he asks. He says that the OĽaNO presidency has met several times in the past week. “We take into account that the situation in the government is not good, and we are looking for solutions to guarantee stability to citizens,” he added. He emphasized that Igor Matovič will be detained. “We wanted to make a clear statement before the meeting of the SaS Republican Council that we want them to stay,” he says. 12.30 Deputy Prime Minister Veronika Remišová considers the current coalition crisis to be a personal dispute between the two leaders of the coalition parties. “The only solution is for both of them to start behaving normally and for the coalition to start working,” she said towards Richard Sulík and Igor Matovič. She added that she sees no point in moving the leaders of OĽaNO and SaS to the parliament. He claims that the SaS Republican Council is deciding today whether Robert Fico will be prime minister, or Peter Pellegrini and Milan Mazurek will be minister of education. “I believe that the coalition partners are aware of their responsibility,” she added. He claims that it is a decision of the presidency, of which he is not a member. “I am the nominee of OĽaNO and I will do what is agreed,” he says. When asked if he could imagine a minority government with the support of the ĽSNS, he replied that it was a question for others. “I will not comment on what just happens or doesn’t happen,” he said after the government meeting. 11.37 OĽaNO’s full statement after the presidency: What unites us is more than what divides us! Our coalition received a very strong mandate from the people in the 2020 elections to wrest Slovakia from the hands of the mafia, which controlled the entire country during the 12 years of the governments of Robert Fico and Petr Pellegrini. In addition to a state where judgments were sold and law enforcement agencies were massively abused, from the first day we were hit by the global covid-19 pandemic, the subsequent economic crisis, the war in Ukraine, the refugee crisis, the highest inflation in the EU in the last 40 years or multiple increase in gas and electricity prices. We are not afraid of problems and crises, even if it is extremely difficult. In addition to solving them, we launched a massive purge of OCTK by giving investigators absolute freedom to go after criminals. We have ended the politics of “our people” and finally we are all equal before the law. Through the recovery plan, we obtained 6 billion euros for the recovery of Slovakia, and after 12 years without any reforms, we launched many things – the reform of hospitals, national parks, universities, the judicial map, public procurement, rental housing, family support and more. We achieved an excellent reputation for Slovakia abroad, and we acquired the first ever car factory in the East. We eliminated grievances in the case of mothers’ pensions, canceled additional payments for medicines, doubled the so-called Christmas pensions or have they introduced a pregnancy allowance. We have implemented hundreds of minor or major changes for the better. We couldn’t do it on our own. We did it together with you. Despite all the obstacles, despite the difficult situation, the propaganda and the spread of hatred by the opposition. And we want to go further with you. Yes, we admit that things happened during those two years that divided us in the coalition. We had disagreements during the pandemic, the burden of which was mainly on the shoulders of OĽANO, as we are responsible for the health sector. Disagreements culminated in your demand for the resignation of our Minister of Health and Prime Minister. We complied with your request, because Slovakia needed stability in difficult times. Today, you again demand the resignation of the leader of the OĽANO movement from the government. Your request is in direct contradiction to the coalition agreement and the OĽANO movement does not agree with it and will certainly not vote for early elections. You claim that the chairman of OĽANO “vulgarly abused the legislative process” with the family package to help families, “enforced it with the opposition despite the will of the coalition partner” and “subverted public finances with it.” None of this is true. Your SaS party, through the chairman at the meeting of the coalition council, gave full consent to the proposed financial coverage and submission of the family package to the parliament in a shortened legislative procedure, with the fact that, although he does not agree with it, he will not veto it. Thus, any questioning of the process and financial coverage of the package by SaS loses its meaning and is not respectful of the truth. You mention personal attacks as another reason. Let’s be honest and admit that they are usually always from both sides. There is no doubt that they are unnecessary and completely unnecessarily overshadow all the good we have done together. The last example of blaming each other who “allied with the fascists” is a good example of how it made no sense at all. That’s why we publicly apologized for our side of the dispute. Dear representatives of the SaS party, coalition partners, it’s about everything. You decide on the future of Slovakia, which can be a good place to live or again and even more dominated by the mafia. Another overthrow of the government will lead to an even worse result than it was in 2012, and that fascists from the Republic will join Fico and Pellegrini in the coalition. You will plunge Slovakia into disaster. Don’t do it! Come back to the meetings of the coalition councils and come together with us to make important decisions to help people. We still have a lot of work to do together. Together with you, we want to show people that the good of the country is more than personal disputes. 11.27 Richard Sulík does not want to respond to the letter that OĽaNO addressed to SaS representatives.
