He succeeded during the weekend, when Kremlin troops conquered Lysyčansk and the surrounding villages. Among them is Bilohorivka. It is the village where in May the Russian army tried to cross the Siverské Donko with catastrophic losses. The conquest of Lysyčansk is the culmination of a series of successes achieved by the Russian army in recent weeks. The following map from Friday 1 July puts them into context. According to its authors, for the entire month of June, the Russians occupied a territory with an area of ​​1,500 square kilometers, and on the last day of June they occupied 19.2 percent of the Ukrainian territory. Compared to the last day of May, it was 0.3 percent more. After the weekend, it’s a bit more. 1500 kilometers corresponds almost exactly to the area of ​​the largest district in Slovakia. Levický district has 1551 square kilometers. The second in order is the District of Košice – the surrounding area is 1535 square kilometers. It is certainly a painful loss for the Ukrainians, but given the huge size of their country, it is not a disaster that will decide the outcome of the war.
