In 2015, the tabloid media gave Martin Mack the label “faecal phantom”. Referring to information from the police, they called him a person responsible for attacks on women in Bratislava. They showed his face and speculated whether he suffered from some kind of sexual deviation. “This is the fecal phantom Martin,” announced the more popular Nový Čas daily. Lower courts later confirmed Mack’s guilt and, despite several contradictions, found him guilty in the fall of 2017. He was given a fourteen-month suspended sentence for disorderly conduct and the obligation to undergo sexological treatment, even though an expert testified that, according to his opinion, he is a “healthy young man”.
