The Canal group announces this Wednesday that it has obtained all the broadcasting rights for C1 matches for the period 2024-2027, as well as for the other European competitions on this cycle. The new formula for the Champions League, which will start at from 2024, will be available on Canal+. The encrypted channel has indeed won all the lots concerning the C1 broadcasting rights for the period 2024-2027, and also those concerning the Europa League and the Europa Conference League. Information confirmed by the Canal group in a press release. According to our information, Amazon had also positioned itself on these Champions League TV rights. Towards an increase in rights for UEFA? As a reminder, this 2024-2027 period will coincide with the new formula of the premier competition with more than clubs (36 against 32 currently) and matches (144 in pools against 96 currently). The participants will be divided into four hats of nine teams, with four places guaranteed for the four best countries (England, Spain, Germany, Italy) and three for France. This new mechanism will lead to the addition of additional dates in pools (8 against 6). Above all, and this is the crux of the matter, this new formula will allow UEFA to significantly increase its rights in relation to the cycle in progress, valued at €370 million per season. The daily affirms that this sum will be in significant increase. For the moment, however, no figures have leaked out regarding the envelope put on the table by the encrypted channel.
