Updated 16:58, 28. 6. 2022 28. 6. 2022, 13:04 The chairman of the OĽaNO club Michal Šipoš announced that they will vote against the dismissal of Minister Richard Sulík from his position. “We have serious reservations about the behavior of the coalition partner SaS, but we have decided, despite everything, despite the fact that there are frictions between us, to bury the hatchet and shake hands with the SaS again,” said Šipoš. He said that several deputies considered not coming to the vote or abstaining, but agreed that they wanted to send a signal to the SaS and would vote against. Prime Minister Eduard Heger said that the dismissal of the minister is the right of the opposition, but in this case, according to him, it is only an attempt by Smer to get back to power and they are trying to usurp the media space. Šipoš added that in the parliament he will also support the Minister of the Environment Ján Budaj, who is also facing dismissal. According to the SME daily, Heger did not rule out the dismissal of the Minister of Finance Igor Matovič. “I am the Prime Minister of the four-party coalition OĽaNO, SaS, We Are Family and For People. My goal is for this coalition to finish by the end of the parliamentary term. I make every effort to do that, “added Heger. Both the SaS and OĽaNO will discuss the future in the coalition at the party level. On July 6, the SaS party will decide whether to continue the coalition and under what conditions it will do so. Richard Sulík also announced this with other SaS ministers after the government meeting. “Many things have happened. We have witnessed gross violations of the legislative process and repeated violations of the coalition agreement. We have been the target of attacks and lies. There is no point in pretending that there are no problems in the coalition. The situation is serious, especially after the events of recent weeks. We don’t want to make a hasty decision, but we can’t imagine going back to the coalition councils and pretending that nothing happened, “said Sulík. He added that he had asked the General Manager of the SaS to convene an extraordinary and enlarged Republican Council on July 6, which would also be attended by deputies and ministers for the Liberals. “We will sit down and consult and there we will make another decision and further procedure and our conditions. Then we will communicate them to the media and the public, “added the Minister of Economy. The special presidency is also convened by the OĽaNO party. “The situation is serious. It is no longer possible to function in this way, “said Minister of Finance Matovič. According to Matovič, SaS blocks coalition decisions because it does not go to coalition councils. When asked if he or Sulík were willing to resign if it would solve the problems in the coalition, he replied that all scenarios are in play. Disputes in the coalition began with the presentation of a family package from the workshop of Finance Minister Igor Matovič. Liberals did not like the fact that the measures should also be financed by contributions to local governments and proposed other forms of assistance to people with inflation. Deputies of OĽaNO broke the president’s veto and approved the package with the help of the votes of the Kotlebovci. In addition, Sulík is facing an appeal in parliament, where OĽaNO deputies György Gyimesi and Milan Kuriak also want to vote for his departure.
