It is the parent company of Maisons Phénix, but also of Maisons Castor and the slightly more premium builder Maison Familiale. Or rather “it was”, because 14 companies out of the 17 of the Geoxia group were liquidated this Tuesday morning before the Commercial Court of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), for lack of a recovery solution deemed viable. Only two factories will continue their activities, in Ambroise and to supply the elements to the sites to be finalized, but in the long term, the 1,195 employees will all be made redundant. 1,600 construction sites are in fact in progress and were all suspended when the company suspended its activity in May, due to lack of liquidity, before being placed in receivership on May 24. This symbol of the accession to property of the working classes, born in the aftermath of the war in 1945 and to which the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu has even devoted a publication, has experienced turbulence since 2008 and the subprime crisis, but that is good the health crisis and the rise in the price of raw materials which completed it.
