Invited this Monday on RMC and BFMTV, the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, confirmed the establishment of a “rent shield” aimed at limiting their increase to 3.5% for one year. bill on purchasing power, the government will put in place a housing “shield” which will cap the increase in rents at 3.5% until the second quarter of 2023. “Rents will be frozen. We will not be able to exceed +3.5%, whereas if we look at the levels of inflation, we could have +4, +5, +6%. It is indeed a protection that we guarantee to the French”, detailed this Monday on RMC and BFMTV the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire. Indeed, the reference index of rents, which fixes the increase authorized by the lessors is indexed on inflation. “The best compromise” The Minister of the Economy indicated that it was necessary to “find a compromise” on the question of rents. “I received for several weeks the associations of donors, housing so cial, consumer associations, owners… Everyone’s interests must be taken into account. This is how we can move forward. (…) I think that this rent shield is the best compromise for all”, he added. Note that the APLs will be revalued at the same time, up to 3.5% for a cost of 168 millions of euros.
