A Louisiana judge blocked the automatic application of the statewide abortion ban following a US Supreme Court ruling that abolished the federal right to abortion. The decision came on the appeal of two groups in favor of voluntary termination of pregnancy, Center for Reproductive Rights and Boies Schiller Flexner Llp, reports the site The Hill. The appeal asks to clarify the effects of the “trigger laws” previously approved in Florida, as well as in other states, to trigger the automatic ban on abortion in the event of a decision to this effect by the Supreme Court. It is also required to determine what options exist for life-saving interventions that involve an abortion.
