Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi hailed the signing of Lionel Messi as a “historic and fantastic” moment for Paris Saint-Germain and football.

Khelaifi said there was a great desire to make the deal come true and thanked the entire Messi family for allowing it.

The president said Messi’s signing showed the club’s ambitions.

‘I can’t forget what I experienced in Barcelona’

Messi said that everything that had happened to him during the last week since his departure from Barcelona had been “hard, fast and emotional”, adding that “I cannot forget what I experienced in Barcelona.”

Messi said he had been going through ups and downs and was “little by little” processing the move from Barcelona to Paris.

The Argentine forward said he was not sure when he would make his first appearance for the French giants.

“When the coaching staff believes that I am fine, I will be ready and willing to play,” Messi said at a press conference on Wednesday.
