Fires in Algeria, the victims are at least 42

At least 42 people have lost their lives in Algeria due to the fires that are affecting the mountainous region of Kabylia, east of the capital Algiers. The budget is updated by Prime Minister Ayman Benabderrahmane, explaining that among the victims there are also 25 firefighters. Yesterday Interior Minister Kamel Beldjoud pointed the finger at the arsonists, stating that “50 fires that break out at the same time can only have arson”. On Twitter, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his condolences for the 25 soldiers who lost their lives while helping in the areas of Bejaiea and Tizi Ouzou, the epicenter of the fires. The defense ministry said the soldiers “saved 110 people – men, women and children from the flames”. More than 70 fires that broke out in 14 regions of northern Algeria, of which 10 in particular around Tizi Ouzou, one of the most populous cities in Kabylia.
