Gas Russia, at the moment “there are no plans to hold a summit in July”, dedicated to energy. This is what is being learned from EU sources, while the Eurosummit is underway. Prime Minister Mario Draghi, with the support of other countries, yesterday asked for the convening of an extraordinary summit dedicated to energy in July. The decision, however, falls to the President of the European Council Charles Michel, who evaluates the opportunity to convene a summit on the basis of the possibility of finding a consensus. Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson and Latvian colleague Krisjanis Karins both said an extraordinary summit in July would only make sense if there was something to decide. The extraordinary European Council did not skip, since it was proposed “by a leader” yesterday, but never fixed (it is up to Charles Michel to decide). The setting of a gas price cap, continues the EU source, “is not at the center of the debate” on energy. However, no one denies that there is a crisis in Europe, “a slow energy shock”, given that the quantities of gas arriving from Russia are decreasing. It is on the response to be given to this energy crisis, which also drives inflation in the Eurozone and the EU, that there is still no consensus among the 27.
