Source: jh The Toyota Corolla Cross is a crossover, even an SUV model based on a legend called the Corolla. The car built on the Corolla chassis is the widest and tallest in its model portfolio. It complements a rich range of models with a raised chassis. From Ayga Cross through Corolla Cross to Land Cruiser. Those interested in crossover or SUV really have something to choose from in Toyota, but the carmaker has so far lacked a practical representative in the C-SUV segment. At the same time, it is the most popular segment. You could only choose between a design- and style-oriented C-HR and a larger, heavier and more expensive RAV4. Today you also have the Corolla Cross, but if there was a lot, the Yaris Cross is also new. In addition to higher brightness, the Corolla Cross offers a fifth-generation hybrid from Toyota for the first time in our country. In the case of the Corolly Cross, this means a full hybrid drive with a new, more powerful electric motor and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder combustion engine. The power of the system is 197 horses. This applies to both the front and both axles. So far, the car is only available with this engine – both FWD and AWD, later – next year – a more economical unit will arrive, the most powerful of which is supplied by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. Compared to the previous version, however, it is significantly strengthened and reaches a maximum output of up to 140 horsepower. However, you can only buy this engine with front-axle drive. Toyota Corolla Cross Source: jh Toyota Corolla Cross has a total length of 4460 m, wheelbase 2640 mm, total height 1620 mm and 425 liters in the trunk. The non-rechargeable hybrid has a new battery hidden under the rear seats again. However, its weight is 40% lower, but the output power increased by 14%. Thanks to this, Toyota can be fitted with a more powerful electric motor, which can be spoken about more often than before. As a result, despite the significant increase in performance, the drive units are just as possibly slightly more economical and cleaner than before. The Corolla Cross has a spacious cabin. Despite the glass roof, there is enough space in the rear seats for a pair of tall and wide, I sat behind the driver myself without any problems. However, without a skylight, it would be more comfortable. There are ventilation vents at the rear and the center seat is not as narrow as in the competitive HR-V, for example. At the front, customers are waiting for a new digital instrument panel, which is completely digital for the first time. Also new is infotainment coming in two versions with the same 10.5 inch display size – Connect and Connect Pro. The lower version will offer built-in cloud navigation (Google) with a free update for 4 years. Higher navigation is on the “hard drive” and also has a 3D display and other improvements for better orientation in a foreign environment. New are also the assistance systems listed under the single name Toyota T-Mate. The third generation offers smarter assistants with greater reach and faster responses. The sensors have almost double the range and their perception can go even behind a vehicle in front. For example, the system can sense when the car is in a convoy – it is useful when the adaptive cruise control slows behind a slower-moving vehicle, which later changes lanes, but there was another slow-moving vehicle in front of it. The system will not accelerate sharply but will come closer to the next car in front of you. Assistants know when traffic is opening when the door is opened. It will also draw attention to cyclists and motorcyclists. The Toyota Corolla Cross will be sold in Slovakia with a price starting at 31,990 euros for basic Comfort equipment and the 2.0i HEV eCVT FWD engine. In addition to the well-built Comfort, it is worth buying the Business package for 1,400 euros, which, in addition to wireless charging, includes front and rear parking sensors, a blind-spot monitoring system and heated front seats with a heated steering wheel. Already in the Comfort equipment, you have a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a Toyota Connect with a 10.5-inch central display, 17-inch alloy wheels, a Toyota T-Mate with OTA updates, dual-zone automatic climate control and a parking camera.
