Juraj Kucka became a new addition to ŠK Slovan Bratislava Source: TASR / Pavel Neubauer BRATISLAVA – Slovak footballer Juraj Kucka signed a two-year contract with Slovan Bratislava on Thursday. A representative midfielder from Watford, England, where he was a guest from Parma, Italy, joins the team of the reigning champion of the highest Slovak competition. Thirty-five-year-old Kucka is returning to his home lawns after 13.5 years in foreign clubs. In January 2009 he headed from Ružomberok to Prague’s Sparta, then he also wore the jerseys of FC Genoa, AC Milan, Trabzonspor and Parma. “It’s a nice feeling, I’m going back to Slovakia, where I started. I look forward to working with you and I would like to thank you for this opportunity. I believe that everything will work and that we will achieve the greatest success,” Kucka said at a press conference on Thursday. Watford dropped out of England’s top competition last season. The year before, Parma had not fought the endurance. “It didn’t work and it was a drop out. However, I learned a lot of football and personal life there and I will try to use it here as well,” said the long-standing Slovak national team member of the former. In the new season, he will try to help Slavs on the European scene as well. In the first round of the Champions League, the “white people” will be welcomed by Georgian Dinamo Batumi on July 6, retaliation is on the program on July 13. Defenders of the league will start the season on July 16 at the Podbrezová field.
