Only 9% of people trust Vladimir Putin worldwide. This is what emerges from the world survey, conducted by the Pew Research Center in 18 countries, conducted with interviews from the end of February to last May, after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Percentage that rises a little if we talk about a favorable opinion of Russia, to 10% in the world. If Putin is definitely the leader who collects less trust worldwide, President Emmanuel Macron is the one who collects the most, 62%, slightly more than Joe Biden, 60%, and Chancellor Olaf Scholz, 59%. . At a great distance, Xi Jinping with 17%, even if in Asian countries such as Singapore and Malaysia the majority express confidence in the Chinese president. The Pew Research Center points out that the global judgment on Putin has not always been so negative: for example, in the 2003 poll, as many as 75% of Germans expressed confidence in him. The survey records 83% in Italy who have an unfavorable view of Russia – 50% very unfavorable and 33% somewhat unfavorable – on the same level as France and Germany, 81%. Note the sharp decline in the number of Italians who express a favorable opinion on Russia: now it is just 14%, while two years ago it was 48%.
