A car and a truck collided behind the Kraľovans towards Martin, and according to witnesses, the accident was fatal. Police are releasing traffic alternately in one lane, reporting a delay of more than 45 minutes. In the opposite direction, the delay is about 20 minutes. The accident happened around 1.30 pm on the first class road. Police said that based on the investigation so far, it was found that the 22-year-old driver was driving a Volkswagen passenger car in the direction from Martin to Kraľovany. “Subsequently, for reasons that have not yet been precisely identified, the vehicle moved in the opposite direction, where a 46-year-old driver collided with an oncoming Mercedes-Benz truck with a semi-trailer driven in the direction from Ružomberok. “Unfortunately, he succumbed on the spot,” informed the Žilina regional police spokesman Radko Moravčík. Alcohol was not detected in the truck driver by a breath test. The poor man will be autopsied. Other circumstances and causes of the accident are the subject of an ongoing investigation.
