Polly Shearer, a housekeeping specialist, revealed a few tricks on how to keep annoying insects away from the kitchen. The British Mirror informs about it. And don’t worry, you won’t have to fly a flycatcher every five minutes. Air temperatures are already over thirty these days. However, in addition to the heat wave, we also face insects that need to cool off from the sun, preferably in households. Polly approaches that the flies even multiply in the heat. In this respect, too, the cleaning expert recommends a few tricks to get rid of annoying insects in the kitchen. 1. Home-made spray Unlike humans, flies do not tolerate the scent of soothing essential oils such as mint, lemongrass and lavender. You can make your own insect repellent spray by mixing a few pieces of the mentioned plants into a sprayer with clean water. Carbonated drinks in the refrigerator The carbon dioxide found in fizzy drinks is as attractive to flies as it is to humans. Dry trash The food you throw in the trash will rot faster in the summer months and naturally attract insects. Therefore, it is important to make sure that you clean and empty your baskets as regularly as possible. This is especially true at higher temperatures. All odors will be absorbed and no insects will hover over the basket. 4. Don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink Never leave dirty dishes for later, no matter how tempting. Apple cider vinegar and basil If fruit flies like your kitchen, you should fill the cup halfway with apple cider vinegar, cover it and make small holes at the top. You should then place it outside. The flies should then be attracted to the scent, allowing you to lure them away from the kitchen. The last piece of advice is basil. It’s a great choice because it repels mosquitoes in addition to flies.
