Monday is marked by the summer heat, which rose to an incredible 35 degrees Celsius shortly after 12 o’clock and continues to rise. This is the warmest day of the year so far. Meteorologists have issued second-degree warnings against heat, especially for the west and south of Slovakia. After a while, however, the higher alerts withdrew and the first-level alerts applied. However, the heat does not stay here long. Meteorologists warn that strong storms are heading for our territory. Therefore, the SHMÚ also issued other warnings. These are valid from 5 pm until late at night for almost the whole of Slovakia, with the exception of the east of the country. Alerts apply in the Bratislava, Trenčín, Nitra and Trnava regions from 5 pm to 8 pm, in the Banská Bystrica and Žilina regions from 5 pm to 11 pm, and in the Košice and Prešov regions from 8 pm to 11 pm. Thunderstorms will bring especially heavy rain. “Heavy rain can cause a temporary rise in water levels on small streams and the occurrence of flood phenomena outside streams, such as run-off from slopes, mudslides, flooding of cellars, underpasses, underpasses and the like,” meteorologists warned. After an extremely hot weekend, strong storms arrived in the Czech Republic from the west this morning, which would move from Bohemia to Moravia and Silesia in the afternoon. With the exception of northwestern Bohemia, storms can be very strong, accompanied by hail, strong gusts of wind and torrential rain. This follows from the current warning of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI). Originally, the storms were to be more intense only in the east of the republic and were to arrive later. “In connection with the crossing of the cold front, intense storms (with the possibility of supercells) with hailstones over two centimeters, gusts of about 90 kilometers per hour and torrential rains with short-term totals of about 30 millimeters can occur today,” meteorologists said.
