Poor Russians? They “rice” on energy. Slovakia has already paid them what else for the whole year – HNonline.sk

When 2020 is said, many people think of covid. He imprisoned us in our homes, frightened him and corona crisis came with him. The threat of recession closed shops and took businesses as well as factories. However, those who did not lose their income and work and did not lack contact with other people could perceive one big positive. The crisis has reduced energy demand and they have fallen sharply. Slovakia has also felt that it imports the vast majority of oil and gas from Russia. Imports thus cost us 2.9 billion euros and fell by a quarter year on year. Two years have passed since then and the situation is dramatically different. The Kremlin’s moves before and after the February invasion of Ukraine have reduced gas for Europe. As a result, the price of this raw material as well as other energies soared. Industry and households depend on them. According to the Statistical Office, we imported mineral fuels and lubricants, especially gas, oil and fuels, from Russia for almost 2.6 billion euros in the first three months of this year. And the amount increased by 148 percent year on year. It is thus assumed that we will overcome the pandemic pre-flight in four months. This article is for subscribers only.
