According to the analysis, the reduction or increase in the price of tours is directly related to the economic condition of individual countries. Greece and Spain are plagued by high unemployment and the overall situation has been exacerbated by the impact of the pandemic. Turkey, on the other hand, is struggling with dizzying inflation, which is causing the currency to weaken and thus reduce the cost of travel for foreign tourists. The analysis states that Croatia will already be one of the most expensive tourist destinations on the Mediterranean this season. On average, prices for this season have risen by 20-25% year-on-year, but a 50 percent price increase is no exception. The most expensive summer vacation destinations are the Côte d’Azur in France. The analysis explains this, among other things, by the fact that hoteliers there target differently economically situated clients than traditional departments, which mainly target the middle class. With the exception of Croatia and Turkey, all selected destinations are located in the euro area. Holiday prices in Croatia and Turkey can thus be subject to exchange rate fluctuations in local currencies against the euro. However, in the case of Croatia, the probability of a significant fluctuation of the kuna’s exchange rate against the euro is disproportionately lower than that of the Turkish lira. According to the analysis, a further weakening of the Turkish lira can be expected, while it is not clear to what extent it will be reflected in the final prices of summer stays, as the exchange rate difference deviating in this direction represents a potential profit for the travel agency. However, according to analysts, it can be expected that the travel agency will share the potential exchange rate gain with the client. In all cases, the prices include air transport and correspond to the period from 1 July to 31 August 2022, ie the period of the summer school holidays. Prices are the result of weighted averaging and may differ from the average when selecting a particular offer.
