The prospect of a nuclear exit, in particular, worries this unemployed commercial director. “So I voted for Macron’s candidate, knowing that here, it’s absolutely useless, given the results of the 1st round. “In this 5th constituency of Paris, the leader of the ecologists, Julien Bayou, invested by Nupes, has, in fact, almost been elected in the first round, where he collected 48.88% of the votes. Facing him, Elise Fajgeles obtained only 29.75% of the vote. Julien Bayou had already tried to conquer this constituency in the 2017 legislative elections. At the time, he had not passed the first round. In the second round, it was Benjamin Griveaux (LRM) who was elected, facing a socialist candidate. Four years later, in 2021, Mr. Griveaux announced his retirement from political life after the crash of his campaign for the municipal election in Paris. Since then, the constituency no longer has a deputy. This Sunday, Julien Bayou is preparing for an election without difficulty, despite the low turnout. “I have always voted for the left, and I have not changed today,” says Djaffar Hamouchene, a 55-year-old maintenance technician, very opposed to postponing the retirement age. Lucas, a photographer, also voted Bayou. “Not out of conviction but out of pragmatism,” he says. He would have preferred a candidate more to the left, of the LFI type. Living in a very well-to-do environment, he is revolted by inequalities. “My daughter, who works in finance, receives 4,600 euros net per month, she has just had a 15% increase, and a bonus of 17,000 euros. It is beyond comprehension! When I see that, I wonder: where is the sharing? This is the reason why he insisted on returning from his second home in Limousin to vote here, in this popular constituency of Paris. Leila, a 53-year-old primary school teacher, also wanted to send a Nupes deputy to the Assembly, “so that there is a bit of balance”, she says. “I’m not a big fan of Mélenchon,” she adds.
