Loire-Atlantique: death of two octogenarians at the beach in Pornichet – CNEWS

According to the prefecture of Loire-Atlantique, two octogenarians died this Friday afternoon. However, no link has been established with the heat wave currently hitting the country. Two men, one 82 years old and the second 80 years old, died about forty minutes apart this Friday afternoon, on the beach in the town of Pornichet. It was nearly 4 p.m. when the firefighters were contacted to rescue the oldest octogenarian, who had fainted while swimming. Despite their intervention, he could not be revived. Shortly after, it was around 4:40 p.m. that the emergency services were again alerted on the beach of Bonne Source, therefore located in the same town. On the spot, witnesses had found the 80-year-old man dead. While the heat wave is felt throughout France, the prefecture said “it did not know if these deaths were related to the heat”. For their part, the firefighters did not give any other details concerning the death of these two people.
