The weather in our area began to be affected by the cold front, which is currently bringing intense storms to the Czech Republic, Poland and Austria. Intense storms are currently targeting Slovakia. A dangerous storm situation broke out. While in these moments the temperatures in our territory are climbing to the level of +30 ° C, very strong storms are already operating a little beyond our borders. In the coming minutes, storms are expected to arrive in our territory and will be accompanied by dangerous side effects. Hail and strong gusts of wind must be taken into account. Thunderstorms will also bring significant lightning activity. Thunderstorms bring hail and heavy downpours Intense storms, which currently occur over the territory of the Czech Republic, bring mainly intense downpours and relatively significant hailstorms. The hail is not large, but intense. In some areas, hailstorms formed after storms. Thunderstorms are also marked by high lightning activity. According to lightning detection, more than 13,000 lightning strikes have already struck the territory of the Czech Republic, with the most intense being in Moravia, where lightning strikes with a density of 5 lightning bolts per square kilometer. There are also strong storms in our western neighbors. However, individual supercells occur here. In the Pottendorf area, for example, larger hail fell. However, supercells also occur rarely. The first storms are already appearing in Kysucie, but more significant storms will come in the coming minutes. formation of the storm system The main part of the storm system will start moving through our territory after 18:00. Current calculations suggest that the strongest manifestations will have storms around 18:00 in Považie, in the north of Záhorie and gradually in the Danubian Lowland, where gusts of wind could reach speeds of up to 100 km / h. The main dangerous accompanying phenomenon of the approaching storms will be a strong wind, but similarly to the Czech Republic, there may be a relatively intense hailstorm.
