Slovakia has relied on gas from Russia for years. Stability was not disturbed until the shutdown of supplies in 2009 for several days. However, we now face an even more serious problem. Since last year, Moscow has not supplied as much raw material to the old continent as customers would need. As a result, commodity market prices have risen since last summer. With the outbreak of war in Ukraine in February this year, several politicians and analysts began to warn that outages in the supply of raw materials for Kiev’s allies may escalate. Currently, the situation has escalated to the most critical point so far. Earlier, the northern Jamal pipeline dried up, and earlier this week Russia also reported alleged technical problems, for which it also limited the Nord Stream lines at the bottom of the Baltic. Problems with the supply of raw materials from the east began to be reported by Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria and us. The Russian side has announced to Slovak SPP gas companies that its natural gas supplies have been halved today, SPP CEO Richard Prokypčák said at the ITAPA 2022 conference. He mentioned the risk of a possible complete cessation of gas supplies from Russia to Slovakia, but according to him, the development so far does not endanger the operation of the company.
