Updated 20:06 16. 6. 2022, 10:12 Second-degree warnings against flash floods are already valid in several districts, especially in northwestern Slovakia. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) informs about it on the web. The second level of flood warning applies to the districts of Skalica, Senica, Myjava, Piešťany, Nové Mesto nad Váhom, Trenčín, Ružomberok, Liptovský Mikuláš and Topoľčany. “Due to the expected torrential rains during storms, we expect a temporary significant local rise in water levels, especially on small streams, with the possibility of reaching and exceeding water levels corresponding to the degree of flood activity. First-degree flood warnings apply in Čadec, Kysucké Nové Mesto, Námestovo, Tvrdošín, Dolný Kubín, Žilina and Martin. Also in Ilava, Púchov, Považská Bystrica and Bytča. SHMÚ continues to warn of strong storms throughout Slovakia. A second-level warning currently applies in the Bratislava, Trenčín and Trnava regions. In other regions, a first-level warning is issued. In this context, meteorologists warn against heavy rain, gusts of wind and hail, which can cause damage of varying degrees. Line in Slovakia The Severe Weather Slovakia website informed shortly before 6 pm that a line from the Czech Republic entered the entire northwest of the country. “The strongest storm still occurs north of Žilina, but also in the vicinity of Zázrivá, Martin and around Donovál, and in fact in the entire northwest of Trenčín above,” wrote Severe Weather Slovakia at the time.
