Extraordinary meeting on the proposal to dismiss Sulík: Fico did not leave a thread on the minister! – New time

On Thursday afternoon, the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic launched a meeting on the proposal to remove the Minister of Economy Richard Sulík (SaS) from office. The opposition Smer-SD submitted a request to convene an extraordinary meeting. Economy Minister Richard Sulík totally failed when he did not put enough pressure on Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽANO) in negotiations on Russian oil. This was announced on Thursday by the deputy and leader of the opposition Smer-SD Robert Fico during an extraordinary meeting. Fico pointed out that the Slovak Prime Minister had agreed to the sixth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, which had recently been agreed by the European Union (EU) and which also concerned the import and processing of Russian oil. According to him, Sulík did not put enough pressure on the prime minister during the oil negotiations. “The Minister of Economy, in whose portfolio these professional topics are, has totally failed,” Fico emphasized. He also noted that, according to the German weekly, sanctions against Russia will not affect the United States, China and India will benefit the most, and Europe and the EU will be the most damaged. He stated that the political will of the large Western countries, to which the current Slovak government has joined, ie the will “to damage the Russian Federation at all costs”, is pushing the European economy “into a corner”. According to him, what happened in Brussels by the Slovak government is a “fatal failure” because “they intentionally damaged the Slovak economy and Slovak households”. He criticized the fact that they took decisions without consulting the public. He also stressed that “fortunately” only oil is a topic at the moment and there is no need to talk about gas. He asked where the government’s response to the “catastrophic” scenario of rising gas prices.
