A Chinese probe, the Zhurong rover, landed on Mars for the first time. The success was recognized by Chinese President Xi Jinping who congratulated all those who took part in the exploration mission to Mars Tianwen-1. This is “another milestone in the development of China’s space industry,” Xi said. ” Thank you for your courage in the face of the challenges and thank you for this proof of excellence, China is now among the first countries in planetary exploration ”, added Xi, stating that ” the country and the people will always remember you for what you have achieved ”. The probe was launched on July 23, 2020 from southern China.
