Thunderstorms can occur throughout Slovakia on Thursday. In this connection, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) issued a first-degree warning. He informs about it on his website. The warning is valid from Wednesday (June 8) from 1 pm to Friday (June 10) at midnight. Thunderstorms can be accompanied by heavy showers, hail and gusts of 65 to 85 kilometers per hour. “The intensity of the accompanying phenomena is common at a given time of year and area, but it can cause minor damage,” meteorologists said. They further stated that during the mentioned storms, a temporary rise in water levels on small streams and the occurrence of flood phenomena outside the streams (run-off of water from slopes, mudslides, flooding of cellars, underpasses, underpasses) is possible. The SHMÚ also issued a warning against flash floods in the Dunajská Streda district. The alert is on the second level.
