Storms began to form in central and eastern Slovakia shortly in the morning. At the moment, they bring torrential rains and there are also hail. The storms will be much more dangerous in the coming hours. Our territory has been divided since the early hours. While in the west it is mostly cloudy and raining, in central and eastern Slovakia the weather has been mostly sunny and warm. In the area of ​​western Slovakia, precipitation still occurs, and it is mostly rainy, in the extreme west, around Bratislava, there is an even more pronounced rain, which occurs here from the morning hours. In the meantime, storms are forming in central and eastern Slovakia, advancing north. The storm has already hit our eastern metropolis of Košice. Storms threaten backbuilding The most significant storms occurred in the south of central Slovakia and in the Košice area. Thunderstorms occur here mainly with torrential rains, which bring high rainfall. South of Košice, during the storm, 25 to 40 mm of rain fell. In addition to abundant totals, there were also hail. During storms, there is also a risk of so-called backbuilding, a phenomenon in which storms are constantly renewed. while one storm is leaving, the other is coming. Backbuilding is dangerous in that it can bring large sums to a small area that are capable of causing flash floods. Storms will continue to be dangerous On the cold front, which is rippling over our territory, the formation of numerous storm cells must be expected in the coming hours. You will move from south to north. Storms that will occur will be accompanied by torrential rains, which can cause local flooding, but also hailstones, the diameter of which can occasionally reach more than 1 cm.
