After a stormy Wednesday, we have an even stormier Thursday here. Since noon, storms have been increasing significantly in our territory, and by evening the situation will worsen. Water floods the roads and flash floods. Today it brings numerous storms to the whole of Slovakia, which is gradually increasing more and more. In the morning, the inhabitants of the capital woke up to a stormy morning, while in central and eastern Slovakia, storms began to form shortly in the morning. In the early afternoon, the storms began to spread, especially in central and eastern Slovakia. The storms are advancing north and, in addition to the rich lightning activity, they bring especially heavy rainfall. Beware of flooded roads It rained significantly, for example, in Košice, where rain gauge stations recorded 27.8 mm of rainfall in 6 hours, but also in Lučenec (23 mm), where firefighters are also intervening in connection with torrential rains, pumping water from busy Lučenec roads. . A supercelle even appeared in Nitra, uprooting trees and causing property damage. On the Hlohovec road, a strong wind carried away part of the roof of the house, which ended up on the road. There are also some roads in Banská Bystrica under water, while alluvial stones also accumulate on the roads. Drivers are advised to exercise great caution on the road. It will be stormy by night On the cold front, which is rippling over our territory, the formation of numerous storm cells must be expected in the coming hours. These will progress from south to north and will continue to bring in large precipitation totals. In many places where storms have already passed, there is a risk that floods will occur during the next storms due to saturated soil. These threaten especially in the districts of Nitra, Zlaté Moravce, Trenčín and from Spišská Nová Ves to the Košice district. It will be stormy until the evening to night.
