Sulík is in trouble, he is not going to the coalition council: What is the minister waiting for? – New time

The SaS will start participating in coalition councils when it feels that the situation has calmed down. This follows the statement of the leader of the SaS and the Minister of Economy Richard Sulík after Wednesday’s government meeting. He declared his interest in the current government continuing. He also informed that the SaS government vetoed the proposal of the Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽANO) to increase some taxes, which he presented in one package with a proposal to increase teachers’ salaries. According to him, the coalition partners respected the veto. “We have decided to take a moment to calm down this situation. I am sorry that it has come this far,” Sulík said. According to him, they also had an open discussion with Matovič at the government. He doesn’t know when they’ll start coalition councils again. “We will start to do this when we feel that the situation has calmed down,” he added. He declared that all SaS ministers were available to Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽANO). “He’s our boss, we respect that,” he said. According to the party, the non-participation of SaS in coalition councils will not endanger the functioning of the state. Sulík said that they were ready to negotiate coalition proposals with the prime minister and other ministers. According to him, they can give their consent in the sense of a coalition agreement in this way as well. He noted that the heads of parliamentary groups can also sit down. Sulík also sees the benefits of not participating in coalition councils. For example, according to him, the laws may begin to go through a proper inter-ministerial comment procedure. He also responded to questions about his announced dismissal in the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic, which wants to initiate the opposition Smer-SD. The Minister has a sense of support. “We will see how many MPs get the impression that I am doing my job so badly that I have to be dismissed,” he said. Regarding the proposal to increase teachers’ salaries and some taxes, he noted that they are ready to talk about it if others increase at the same time as some taxes increase. According to him, the salaries of teachers should go to the current state budget.
