Even today, Slovakia was hit by strong storms, which did not focus only on the far west as in previous days. However, significant storm activity awaits us in the coming hours and the storms will be even stronger. Our territory is still hit by strong storms, which have caused a lot of problems. This is due to the undulating cold front, which is located directly above our territory and on which individual precipitation waves are created. Further storms in Slovakia should be expected in the coming hours as well, while the storms may be even more pronounced. Problems, especially in the west Today’s storm activity is not over yet, but so far it has brought the most significant problems to the area of ​​western Slovakia. A significant storm, which brought from 40 to 50 mm of precipitation due to a short time, hit the eastern part of the city of Nitra. For example, the approach to the R1 expressway flooded. Another strong storm occurred in the south of western Slovakia, northwest of Štúrovo. This is where a supercellular storm from northern Hungary came in, which also brought more than 50 mm of rainfall. However, the storm cell affected only less populated areas and did not cause significant problems. The last, most significant storm today moved through Horná Nitra and Považie, towards Žilina, where it weakened. This storm, which was very photogenic, brought a lot of precipitation, but without significant problems. The cold front will continue to undulate above us. He practically does not move and this way it will be until the weekend. Thursday and Friday will bring another wave of very intense storms. The storms don’t even rest during the night. They can occur in humid and stuffy air even during night hours. The storms will only have in common that they will move from south to north. Their most dangerous side effect will be torrential rain, which, like on Wednesday, can cause local floods. However, predicting specific areas is challenging, so be alert throughout the territory until the weekend.
