Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein faces two indecent assault charges in the UK

Weinstein pleads not guilty to 11 sex charges 1:54 (CNN) — Former Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein is facing two counts of indecent assault in the United Kingdom against a woman in 1996.
The UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said on Wednesday it had authorized the London Metropolitan Police to charge the 70-year-old man following a review of evidence forcibly gathered in its investigation. In a statement Wednesday, Rosemary Ainslie, chief of the CPS Special Crimes Division, said that CPS has “authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge Harvey Weinstein with two counts of indecent assault on a woman in August nineteen ninety six”. Ainslie said the charges were authorized following “a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in their investigation”. The police force said in a statement that the two alleged crimes took place between July 31 and August 31, 1996 and that the alleged victim is a woman who is now 50 years old.
