FAO: “Reduce food losses and waste”

We must “reduce food losses and waste” because “if we reduce food losses and waste by 50%, there will be enough fruit and vegetables” to “cover the recommended 400 grams per person per day”. This was stated by the director general of FAO, Qu Dongyu, in his speech at the opening of the Mediterranean Ministerial Dialogue on the Food Crisis, calling for a “more efficient use of available natural resources”.
