A particular time trial For several years the organizers of the leading races (WT, 2.Pro and 2.1) have been concocting shorter and shorter time trials. In the 1990s, there were timed events of 26 km on average. In recent years, these stages have averaged 22 km. This time between Montbrison and the Bâtie d’Urfé will therefore be special with its 31.9 km. This year, only the Tour of the Algarve time trial was run over a longer distance (32.2 km). By way of comparison, the last time trial of the Giro was contested over 17.4 km and it is the third longest of the year. (source Procyclingstats)
