Čaputova’s veto / Heger respects him, Matovič criticizes the president for not giving him even a minute – pozit.sk

Heger respects him, Matovic criticizes the president for not giving him a minute SaS announced that she will temporarily not go to coalition councils. “Slovakia needs a break from quarreling,” says Richard Sulík. Prime Minister Eduard Heger respects the president’s decision on a family aid package, which she has decided to veto in part. Zuzana Čaputová announced her decision this afternoon. “I respect the statement of the President, I need to get acquainted with the details of her decision and based on that I will choose the procedure,” he said at a briefing in front of the government office. Journalists were not given the opportunity to ask questions. A few minutes later, the Minister of Finance and OĽaNO leader Igor Matovič appeared before the journalists. He said at the beginning that he would not answer the journalists’ questions either, because neither did the president. He said she was not at all surprised by her decision to veto his aid package. “The president is a progressive liberal and I am on the opposite bank. I’m a pro-family conservative. I expected our positions to be different. “Finance Minister Chaputova criticizes that in recent days she has invited people who were against his proposal to the palace.” In 12 days, she gave a huge space to people who fought to help their families. She did not give me a single minute as an advocate for helping families and the submitter of this proposal, “said the Minister of Finance. According to Matovič, she thus “denied the right to defend” families with children. She claims that the Presidential Palace has been “full” of people fighting to help families in recent days, and only in the end did Čaputová invite pro-family organizations. “I’m afraid it was just so symbolic, apparently, that it would not be said.” Other politicians from the coalition or the opposition also responded to the president. Education Minister Branislav Gröhling thanked her. “Deputies thus have a chance not to vote for the disruption of public finances,” he wrote on the social network. On the contrary, György Gyimesi from OĽANO stated that “President Čaputová has set up a mediator for families with children today!” Čaputová vetoes part of Matovič’s package If parliament does not make changes, the president turns to the Constitutional Court but the tax revolution. The Prime Minister will respect the SaS tax veto Eduard Heger also spoke about other current topics at a briefing before the start of the coalition council. He said he continued to reject SaS’s decision to veto tax increases. However, if the Liberals exercise their right of veto, they will insist on respecting it in order to maintain the coalition. “If the SaS applies a veto, I will push for it to be respected in order to maintain the government and the coalition,” the prime minister said. He noted that he considers a tax on regulated levies, gambling, alcohol or oil to be legitimate instruments at this time. At the same time, Heger rejected Richard Sulík’s claims that he would not want to negotiate an extension of the eight-month derogation in Brussels. “These claims are misleading and inaccurate,” he said. The prime minister claims that what he agreed for Slovakia is better than the original proposal. He talks about an indefinite exemption for Russian oil imports, while the original proposal spoke of three years. He noted that all countries except the Czech Republic have declared that they no longer want to import Russian oil products after eight months. According to him, the only exception is the Czech Republic with an 18-month deadline. “I would have waived the 50-year exemption for exports of Russian oil products for free,” he said. However, he emphasized that due to energy security and the refusal to finance the Russian aggression in Ukraine, it was necessary to disconnect from this source as soon as possible and find alternatives. Sulík on the oil embargo We could have said more, but Heger decided to leave it like this. According to the Minister of Economy, Slovnaft would be able to function at 70 percent without Russian oil. Coalition councils temporarily without SaS Shortly after these statements, the opinion of the SaS party came to the media, announcing that it would temporarily cease participating in coalition councils. “We see that the whole of Slovakia needs a break from coalition bickering. Our priority is constructive dialogue, not listening to insults from Igor Matovič. At the coalition councils, we are constantly exposed to repeated personal attacks from him. However, the coalition is about equal partners, if the leader OĽaNO does not realize this, we do not see any sense in going to the coalition council meetings. Of course, we will participate in government meetings, as well as all four SaS ministers, at the same time and in full at the disposal of Prime Minister Eduard Heger, “said SaS chairman Richard Sulík. In response to his decision, Sulík said that Sulík only participated in coalition councils “very rarely, and if by chance, only for a very short time.” Other times, when it comes to negotiating in depth about people’s problems, the SaS party, according to Matovic’s movement, sends other representatives to each meeting, which blocks the solution of problems. “Subsequently, if an agreement is reached, the chairman of the SaS party will usually cancel it anyway, as he does not agree with the decision of his representatives,” OĽaNO claims in the opinion, adding that this was also the case in negotiations on assistance to families. “Today, the chairman of SaS Sulík had to defend his failures at the coalition council in sanctions on Russian oil, which will cause billions in damage to Slovakia. His decision not to participate in the negotiations is proof that he has no credible arguments for his failure, “the movement added.
