Ukraine-Russia, Kiev: “600 people in ‘torture chambers’ in Kherson”

About six hundred people were taken to the “torture chambers” in the Kherson region in southern Ukraine by Russian troops. This is the accusation made by Tamila Tacheva, permanent representative of the Ukrainian presidency in the Crimeabriefing. “According to our information, about 600 people are being held in specially equipped basements, in torture chambers, in the Kherson region,” she said quoted by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform. About 300 people are “in the basements” in the city of Kherson and the rest in several settlements in the region, Tacheva said. “They are detained in inhumane conditions and are victims of torture,” she added. These are “mainly journalists and activists” who organized “pro-Ukrainian demonstrations in Kherson and the region” after Russian troops occupied the territory, Tacheva said.
