Slovakia has its own oil deposits. Where are they located and how much can we extract? – The truth

Five to six million tons of oil. This is the annual consumption of black gold in Slovakia. And Russia supplies almost everything to us. However, this will probably have to change soon. After 18 months, Slovnaft will be able to produce only 40 percent of its production from the Russian Urals oil blend, which it can sell to customers in Slovakia. The rest of the production will either produce from another oil or find completely new customers who are not subject to sanctions. Slovakia also has underground mineral deposits. They are found mainly in the Záhorská lowland, in the Neogene sedimentary filling of the Vienna Basin. Currently, Slovak geologists register nine deposits: Cunín, Gajary, two in Jakubov, Láb, Studienka, Závod (all in Záhorie), then Lipany and Šamorín. Altogether, about 436,000 tons of oil can be extracted from these deposits, which is less than one percent of consumption.
