One of the fundamentally miscalculations of the Putin regime was the assumption that the West would not be united in its response to the Ukrainian war. The Atlantic Allies have agreed on a series of sanctions and supplies of useful weapons to Kiev. We talked with the Czech Russianist Karel Svoboda about the events in Russia and the war in Ukraine. According to him, Vladimir Putin is almost out of the bunker, and the soldiers he visited are suspiciously similar to his bodyguards: NATO celebrated the renaissance. The compliance was exemplary. But as Ukraine’s protracted, protracted conflict unfolds, there is a warning that this unity may not last forever. Are the concerns justified? Gaps of opinion are emerging in Europe.
