Apple will look at child pornography photos on users’ iPhones

Apple on the hunt for photos of child abuse. Users’ iPhones will be scoured by new software that can locate child pornography-related files uploaded to iCloud. The technology – identified as’ neuralMatch – is expected to go live in the US by the end of the year. Green, professor of cryptography at Johns Hopkins University, shines the spotlight on the possibility of the tool becoming attractive to governments and authorities. “I don’t see how they can say no from this point on,” he tells the NYT, referring to the pressures and demands Apple may be facing.
