Drivers on the busiest highway were surprised. The signage between Bratislava and Trnava has changed. It has to do with a change in legislation. And there are many more changes. About a month ago, they changed the color of the lines on the D1 three-lane highway. The oranges, who had been there for almost 10 years, painted white. Drivers ask on social networks why. The answer is simple – the law has changed and orange markings have been removed. The orange color was generally used to indicate a temporary change in road traffic, and this was also taken into account when building the 3rd lane on the D1. However, this section should have been painted white a long time ago. That is confusing, says the traffic analyst. “So how do people distinguish a highway under construction from a normal highway? Definitely not from traffic signs, they should behave the same on both, but they will know it, for example, in announcements, collections or message boards, “said traffic analyst Jozef Drahovský. However, the temporary solution gradually became permanent. The reason was the vision of the former governments to extend the highway to 4 + 4 lanes, but it is not even on paper yet. The only thing that has been done over the years is the exchange of one overpass and the Triblavin intersection. And so a highway without parking lanes was created. However, there is still hope for a good solution. “We may have had an information system for a long time, because sane drivers realize that if I have 3 lanes without the parking lot, whatever is right, it is a potentially big problem,” says motoring journalist Alexander Stefuca. The orange color has been changed to yellow after the new marking, but it can only be used for short-term traffic restrictions. And whenever something needs to be done temporarily, the original road signs must overlap. To be just one.
