Why do dogs seem to run when they sleep? 0:42 (CNN Spanish) – Pebbles, a Toy Fox Terrier from South Carolina, received a very special recognition from Guinness World Records this May: she is the oldest living dog in the world. This nice dog is 22 years and 60 days old, according to data from the organization that certified her title. She has been a part of Bobby and Julie Gregory’s family since she was a puppy. They were going to adopt a large breed dog, they told Guinness World Records, but they saw her and it was “instant love.” (Credit: Guinness World Records) Back when news broke that a 21-year-old dog had won the title of oldest dog, Bobby started receiving messages from family and friends telling him about the record. And they realized that his Pebbles was older. She is generally a calm and affectionate dog, according to her family, who listens to country music, sleeps until 5 p.m. (“She loves to curl up under the covers,” Julie says) and stays up at night. During her life she had 24 puppies. What is the diet of the oldest dog in the world? She follows a diet of cat food recommended by her vet in 2012, which her owners have been told is higher in meat-based protein than dog food. Every once in a while, however, they give him a bone and he can even eat a piece of meat or chicken. For her 22nd birthday, in fact, she ate a stack of ribs (and took a bubble bath).
