López Obrador confirms that Mexico will host talks between the government and the Venezuelan opposition

(CNN Spanish) – The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced this Thursday that his country will host talks between the government and the opposition of Venezuela.

At his usual morning press conference, AMLO said that he had accepted Norway’s proposal, which proposed Mexico as the venue, and that he hoped the talks would end with an agreement.

“The Secretary of Relations has just reported that the Norwegian proposal proposes that Mexico be the headquarters to carry out these negotiations and we accept because what we are looking for is that there is dialogue and agreements between the parties,” said the president.

“These are talks between the government of Venezuela and the opposition. Hopefully an agreement will be reached, then yes, those talks will take place and we will help our country to host these talks.”

López Obrador said that at the moment there were no more details

“I do not want to go into more detail, I even offer apologies to the parties, only that I could not lie, I had to answer,” he added.
